Un avvocato dovrebbe sempre chiedere se i propri clienti hanno animali e, in caso positivo, se i soggetti violenti li hanno minacciati o hanno fatto loro del male. Dovrebbero anche chiedere se gli animali hanno bisogno di uno speciale programma di protezione, se si sta programmando di abbandonare il tetto sotto cui vive il maltrattatore.

Perché parlare dell’abuso ai danni di animali?

Un buon avvocato sa riconoscere la connessione tra un abuso (o la minaccia di un abuso) diretta a un animale e l’abuso ai danni di un essere umano. È importante discutere di questi argomenti perché di solito si può fare qualcosa per proteggere l’animale, e le descrizioni delle minacce o dei veri e propri abusi inflitti all’animale aiuteranno l’avvocato ad avere una visione più circostanziata della situazione inerente alla persona.

Il progetto LINK-ITALIA ha l'obiettivo di sostenere lo studio e la divulgazione del legame esistente fra i maltrattamenti nei confronti degli animali e gli abusi subiti da donne e minori nelle pareti domestiche, approfondendo i risvolti legislativi nelle attuali giurisprudenze anglosassoni, allo scopo di promuovere anche nel nostro paese, una consapevolezza giuridica che contempli i maltrattamenti animali nelle pareti domestiche campanelli d'allarme di probabili abusi di donne-minori e viceversa.

Il ruolo degli avvocati che difendono vittime di abusi è già totalmente orientato ad aiutare il proprio cliente in tutte le fasi giuridiche ma non solo e, in aggiunta, è possibile:

  • In caso di una cliente che ha paura ad allontanarsi da una situazione pericolosa per non esporre propri animali a rischio avvisarla dell’esistenza di una rete di rifugi che potrebbero essere d’aiuto e/o contattarci direttamente all’indirizzo info@link-italia.net . Questo vale anche per persone in stato di disagio economico che non possono permettersi il mantenimento degli animali.
  • Organizzare e/o partecipare a corsi di aggiornamento che contemplano lezioni sul rapporto crudeltà su animali e violenza interpersonale.
  • Inviare materiale divulgabile con cui si viene in contatto all’indirizzo info@link-italia.net per aiutare la raccolta dati e le conseguenti possibili ricerche scientifico-epidemiologiche.
